Medical Assistant Program (Administrative & Clinical)

medical program photo Graduates of this program will have varied and extensive administrative/clinical skills. Administrative skills include using computer applications, coding and filling out insurance forms, as well as updating and filing patient medical records.

Clinical duties include taking medical histories, collecting and preparing laboratory tests, assisting physician with minor surgical procedures, administering injections and taking vital signs.

Admission Requirements

High school diploma/GED, completed high school science class, keyboarding skills, and satisfactory scores in math and reading assessments.

Curriculum

30 instructional weeks or 900 hours
Contractual Enrollment with Virginia Highlands Community College.
Class is offered at Branch site on Virginia Highlands campus.
